About us

Cardiac Surgery Center deals with surgical treatment of heart diseases and large vessels in adults. The most frequent procedures include myocardial revascularization. These operations are performed both in extracorporeal circulation and without extracorporeal circulation of beating heart, and in some cases also from miniinvasive access. Surgical treatment of heart defects forms a significant part of the operating program. In this respect, there is an extraordinary scope of experience in operations that enable to preserve the original valve without necessary implantation of an artificial prosthesis. Supraregional position is occupied by this centre in surgical treatment of aneurysms and dissections ("rupture") of thoracic aorta; these are unique operations performed in deep hypothermia with stopped blood circulation.

Cardiological section forms a part of the centre. It deals with diagnostic of surgically solvable heart diseases. Moreover, specialized invasive procedures are performed, which include implantation of Amplatz occluder in defects of atrial partition, percutaneous ballon valvuloplasty in mitral stenosis and percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation in patients with hypertrophic obstruction cardiomyopathy.

Cardiac Surgery Center draws from its own long-term experience, top equipment and extensive background of the university hospital. It is an accredited workplace for cardiosurgery and intensive medicine. It allows for completing fellowships in cardiosurgery, anaesthesiology, intensive care and echocardiographic diagnostics of valvular defects.
